Troop 60 Attends 92nd anniversary celebration dinner

Troop 60 completes the Art merit badge.

As part of the Art series Troop 60 learned
a. What art is and what some of the different forms of art are
b. The importance of art to humankind
c. What art means and how art can make one feel

They learned the following terms and elements of art: line, value, shape, form, space, color, and texture.

They learned the six principles of design: rhythm, balance, proportion, variety, emphasis, and unity.

Louis Hyams, who instructed the scouts, is a professor in the Communication department at Northwestern State University

To complete their badge they rendered the subject of their choice in FOUR of these ways:
a. Pen and ink
b. Watercolors
c. Pencil
d. Pastels
e. Oil paints
f. Tempera
g. Acrylics
h. Charcoal
i. Computer drawing or painting

Professor Hyams taught computer aided design, 3-D printing , glass engraving, drawing and painting.
Scouts created an image and then printed on a 3-D printer.
