November 29th Meeting

Troop 60 Scouts’ patrols began building trebuchets at the meeting, using the lashings they learned and the pine staves they prepared to build two frames:

Ryan, an Eagle Scout from Metarie who attends NSU also visited our meeting: welcome, Ryan!

Please join us in congratulating our newest Star Scout, Jacob, who completed his Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review during the meeting: well done Jacob!

November 15th meeting

Troop 60 Scouts continued working on their Citizenship in the World merit badges at last night’s meeting, led by an experienced educator and political science expert, Jennifer A!

ASM Nyle also handed out knives for Scouts who recently joined the Troop and earned their totin’ chip.

One Scout completed his Scoutmaster Conference for Eagle rank and another his Board of Review for Second Class. Congratulations Griffin and Koda for their accomplishments!

Troop 60 installs another Eagle Project!

In the cold morning hours of Saturday, November 10th, Troop 60 members were led in the installation of Griffin’s Eagle Project, assembling, placing, and filling 3 book exchanges in Ben Johnson Park, City Park, and Pierson & Mallett Park in Natchitoches and attaching the signs telling passers-by what Little Free Libraries are and who provided them.

Mayor Posey even came to offer his support and encouragement, and he praised the Troop’s service to the community. He is very enthusiastic about the Little Free Libraries and will help spread the word around Natchitoches.

Troop 60 has 3 more Life Scouts who are about to begin their Eagle Projects, which are important opportunities to practice leadership, service, planning, adaptation, implementation, and other valuable life skills. Congratulations to Griffin for finishing this stage of his trail to Eagle!

Hot potatoes!

November 8th Troop 60 Scouts met in the FUMC parking lot and helped bag sweet potatoes for the Cane River Food Pantry. Lots of hands make for light work!

Then Scouts played team-building games, including (appropriately) Hot Potato and a hand-knotting untangling game.

Reminder: this Saturday beginning at 8:00 am at City Park, one of Troop 60’s Life Scouts will lead the installation of his Eagle Project. Please come help and support this important step on the Trail to Eagle!
